How do you get somewhere you’ve never been? Follow a map. Maps are useful.
Want to know how to make money by blogging online? Follow a map.
Here’s a map…
Of course it’s a ‘big picture map’ but now you have an idea of where to start and where you’re headed, the overall route.
There’s plenty of steps in between too. Let’s take a closer look:
1 – MAKE A DECISION
Blogging’s not for everybody. It’s going to require effort and time so you want to be sure it’s for you.
You want to be able to say clearly and confidently, “I’ve decided to make money by blogging online and I’m going to be a raving success.”
If you can and you have, you’re on the road and ready to rumble… Awesome stuff!
But what if you’re not even sure what’s required?
No problem, I’ve created this quick and easy checklist you can use to find out.
2 – choose a niche
In other words, you must decide what you’re going to blog about.
If you already have a product or service that helps people with some or other need then it’s easy, you’ll blog about topics related to that.
So for example if you’ve developed a product that stops dog’s from barking then your blog will be about the problems and solutions associated with barking dogs that people want information about.
If you don’t have your own product or service, no problem, you still want to blog about helping people with something.
You can offer a product or service someone else has created and when someone buys it you’ll be paid a commission for introducing the product to someone else on their behalf. More about this next…
Not sure what to blog about? You and many others which is why I wrote the following to help you:
3 – Choose how to earn
It’s all well and good creating excellent content on your blog that people love reading and can’t wait to to get their hands on but… people will not be paying for it.
It’s not like a magazine that people have to buy. Your blog will be free for anybody to read online.
So how will your blog make money? There are a number of ways, one of which I already spoke about briefly above. Here’s some more information to help you decide how you will make money on your blog.
4 – GET THE TOOLS YOU NEED
Some of the tools professional bloggers use, include, training, support networks, a website builder, website hosting, keyword tool, writing software, social media schedulers, image and graphics design applications, blog theme, website health tools, search engine optimization tools etc.
There are some good free tools available and others that will incur a cost. Tools make your life easier as a blogger so keeping the cost down so you can have more tools to help you is a good idea.

5 – create plans
You must approach blogging as a business. This means thinking and acting like a businessperson from the start.
You require a blogging specific business plan as well as an action plan detailing how you will achieve your goals monthly, weekly and daily. This is one area that new bloggers often don’t put into practice with disastrous consequences.
Here is the information you need:
6 – build a website
Time to set up and build your actual website.
7 – attract visitors
No good having a fantastic blog that nobody knows about, so how do you promote and attract people to read your blog?
8 – don’t give up
Then you have to keep at it until you become successful.
Earl Nightingale, the motivational American radio speaker said:
“All you need is the plan, the road map, and the courage to press on to your destination.”
